Texas police are currently investigating an incident that occurred on a recent Monday morning in Fort Worth. Several vehicles were involved. A preliminary investigation suggested that one of the drivers failed to stop at a red light moments before the collision took place.
Ignoring stop signs and running red lights are two common factors in many accidents that occur at intersections. Excessive speed is another, as well as failing to use turn signals properly. These actions constitute “driver negligence” and are typically grounds for filing a personal injury claim in civil court.
Fatal accident
Sadly, one of the people involved in the crash did not survive the accident. Several others, including a child, suffered injuries and were transported to several area hospitals for emergency care. The status of their conditions was not provided at the time of this writing. These types of accidents often result in traffic citations or criminal charges against the driver believed to have been at fault.
When a child suffers injuries in a collision caused by driver negligence, his or her parents or a guardian may seek restitution on the child’s behalf. A personal injury attorney can help determine the maximum amount of compensation applicable to a specific case. Having an attorney by one’s side in court also makes proceedings less stressful, especially for a parent (or guardian) who must re-live the details of the incident that resulted in the child’s injuries.
